How do I manage the domain I bought from HostGator?

Please visit your domain control panel and login on the right hand side (Manage Your Domain).

If you have a domain TLD not listed on that page, please login here.

Logging in: Enter the domain name without http or www. Enter your initial password, or try your other HostGator passwords.

  • If you get "Error: Domain name not found" then we do NOT own the domain. Please, contact the registrar.

  • If you get "Error: Passwords do not match" then we do own the domain. Please, try a few more passwords.

If you still cannot login, please contact us via phone or live chat.

What are/should be default DNS for domains purchased through hostgator?

HostGator
Each client may have different nameservers; you must use the ones specifically for your server.

Don't worry! We send you the correct nameservers in your Welcome Email.

Hi there, I'm a little bit confused about the process of adding domain names for addon domains.

So, I have a 'business plan' account through hostgator as well as the domain I registered at the time I started the account. I've recently purchased two more domains through the link at the top of cPanel and would like to use them as addon domains (ie. I want them to point to subdirectories in my public_html folder, but appear to the outside world as two seperate sites). Do I have to make changes to the name servers for the two new domains I purchased? Or do I just add them using the 'Addon Domains' link in cPanel?

Really confused. Any help would be much appreciated!

HostGator
You need to add those new domains as Addon domains in cPanel, and you also need to access your domain control panel and update the name servers for each domain to the same name servers we provided for your primary domain.

I never get domain renewal notices. The path to managing domains is not in cPanel so they're easy to miss. How can I sign up for reminders?

HostGator
You must have access to the email contact listed under Administrator, in your Whois. If it is not your email, you must update it.

I have tried all of my passwords for "Manage Domain" along with my domain name and it keeps saying passwords do not match. I have clicked the "send to email" link and it says sent but I have not received it. Is there anyway that I can change the email address to which these forgot passwords is sent to?

HostGator
Time to contact us via sales@hostgator.com email, phone or live chat for assistance. We can help you gain access.

Hi.
I can access the domain control panel with my credentials and change the DNS and lock, but I can't see any way to create/manage private nameservers or see the auth code. What's the trick ?

HostGator
You must email sales@hostgator.com for both services.

"try a few more passwords." is hardly confidence-building. None worked for me, so I filed a ticket, and my cpanel password was changed, but still can't log in. This article needs to specify WHAT password and how to get it if a user doesn't already have the one needed for domain management.

HostGator
You must try your billing password and hosting password. I can't be sure which you used or if HostGator set one based on an existing password.

"If you still cannot login, please contact us via phone or live chat." Don't ask for your cPanel password reset; ask for your domain control panel password.

I try to login but keep getting domain name not found.

HostGator
That means the domain name you entered is not registered through HostGator.

Please contact us via phone or live chat for further help.
